Boys finish first in league

Glenwood News for Feb. 27

By the

Congratulations to the Glenwood High School boys basketball team. They are number 1 in league this year and are having a great season of play. The boys played Lyle in the first district game on Friday night in Sunnyside. After a great nail biting game, the boys lost to Lyle by one point. They played a great game against Sunnyside Christian on Saturday night. It was really a close game, but they did lose out even though they played an exceptionally good game. Everyone is really proud of them and looking forward to the regional tournament which starts on Friday, Feb. 28, in Ellensburg. The Glenwood boys will meet the Mansfield team with the game starting at 4:45 p.m. Good luck to the Glenwood boys team and its coach, Jay McLaughlin, at the regional playoff games.

Dan Smith, Glenwood High School girls varsity coach, took the girls basketball team to WSU on Saturday, Feb. 15-16. The team went to a WSU women's basketball game and he took the girls on a great tour of the campus. Mr. Smith is a WSU graduate. The girls wanted to thank Mr. Smith and Jessica Pooler, assistant coach, who also went with the team for the trip. They said it had been a great trip and something they would really remember. Glenwood School also wants to thank Lyle School District for the use of its school van for this trip.

Condolences are extended to the family of Frank Leaton. Mr. Leaton passed away in Texas on Thursday, Feb. 20.

Sarah Perryman hosted a baby shower for Shara Montgomery at the Glenwood Grange on Sunday, Feb. 23. It was well attended by a lot of family and friends and everyone had a really good time. She received a lot of really nice baby gifts in preparation of the upcoming birth. Shara is expecting a baby boy in March.

The 21st Century Grant Program Pinewood Derby Project is gaining a lot of interest from students and adults. Everyone attending this program is having a great time. The group meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

The Glenwood Sophomore class is planning to have breakfast for dinner on Monday, March 3. The dinner hours are 4:30 to 7 p.m.
