Husum Hills subdivision site reviewed by county planners

Mitigated determination of non-significance issued for project

The Klickitat County Planning Department is considering a preliminary plat application and related rezone for a proposed 18-lot subdivision in Husum.

The proposed "Husum Hills" subdivision is on State Route 141 near Husum, just southwest of the Husum Hills Golf Course. The site is accessed via Fairway Drive.

The applicant on the proposal is Six S Co. Tom Stevenson is the representative.

The Planning Department issued a "mitigated determination of non-significance" (MDNS) related to the project on Jan. 2.

According to the proponent's application, the subdivision is expected to be completed in spring 2003, with lots designed for "typical two-story residential housing" for sale by the summer.

The houses will be served by domestic septic systems. The subdivision plans to meet its water needs through the Fordyce Springs Water District.

As part of the project, rezoning of 2.94 acres from "general rural" to "rural residential" is also under consideration.

In addition, a variance is being requested to allow a 30-foot right of way for the spur road leading to the proposed subdivision.

The proposal is scheduled for a public hearing before the Klickitat County Planning Commission on Feb. 18.

The Planning Department's deadline for comments and/or appeals on the application is Jan. 16. For more information, contact Curt Dreyer at the Planning Department, (509) 773-5703.
