Hood River artist donates painting for annual River Fest

Poster on sale now

Judith Cunningham, Hood River artist, donated the painting that provides the artwork for this year's Columbia RiverFest poster, available this week.

"We are excited about this year's art by Judith entitled "Spirit of the River," stated Greg deBruler, event coordinator for Columbia Riverkeeper. "It captures the Gorge and the Columbia River in a very unique and beautiful way."

The original painting was an aerial perspective from The Dalles Mountain.

New this year is a morning kids' parade with the theme "A River Runs Through It" in downtown Hood River led by the Lions of Batucada, a Samba marching band from Portland. Kids will be encouraged to participate carrying salmon, wearing animal costumes or riding bikes or scooters. A special summer trick or treat is also being planned by downtown merchants.

At 5 p.m., local artists from Saturday Market will be displaying their goods at the river venue just past the Event Site. As in the past, expect great food and beverages and lots of fun for the entire family.

Tickets are on sale at Waucoma Bookstore in Hood River, Klindt's in The Dalles, or at the gate. A family-only ticket can also be purchased through the Columbia Riverkeeper office or by calling (541) 387-3030.
