Is it summer at First Friday?

Hood River site of monthly art and entertainment events

The Hood River Downtown Business Association and GorgeArts welcome visitors to the June First Friday Artwalk.

This month's event, which begins at 5 pm, offers a number of visual and audio treats to the general public. During this event, dozens of local artists exhibit their creations at downtown Hood River businesses, while local musicians perform at various locations in the downtown area.

Highlights for the June event include Saturday Market on First Friday. Get a sneak peek of the Hood River Saturday Market vendors and musicians on Cascade Street between 2nd and 3rd Street. A smaller version of Saturday Market will be set up to offer you additional evening delight as you stroll the downtown taking in all the sights and sounds of First Friday.

A sample of artists showing this month include: Oregon Glass Guild, Richard Hallman of Freelance Imaging, Andrew Pate, Susan Kline, Paul Kipper, Janet Essley, Elizabeth Anderson, and Susan Garrett Crowley.

The Columbia Art Gallery presents the Hail Mid-Columbia Juried Show with music by Cascade Band Flute Choir at an opening reception at 7 p.m.

Wyeast Middle School Student Art will be shown and Craig Danner will have a book signing.

Be sure and tune into more music by Charles Crosman & Nora Krevans, Rubber Chicken Lollipop, Mark Womble, Connie Dunnington, and Jamba Marimba.
