In an effort to provide hunger relief throughout Klickitat and Skamania counties, agents and staff at Windermere/Glenn Taylor Real Estate are holding a "Spring Harvest" Food Drive as part of the company's yearly Community Service Day project.
Windermere hopes the donation drive will enable the Klickitat/Skamania Food Bank to kick off the summer on June 21 with a large supply of food for distribution.
Now through June 20, community members are encouraged to bring donations to the Windermere office in Bingen. From June 13-20 donations will also be accepted at White Salmon Thriftway.
Much-needed food items include: canned tuna, peanut butter, canned or boxed soups and stews, boxed pasta and rice meals, and canned fruits and vegetables. Donations of personal toiletries, diapers, quart-sized Ziploc bags and laundry detergent are also needed.
Windermere will also participate in a door-to-door donation collection in the community from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 20, which marks the company's annual Community Service Day.
Windermere's Community Service Day began in 1984 and is nationally recognized as a model hands-on volunteer program. Agents and staff from more than 200 Windermere offices across the West devote the entire day to bettering the communities in which they live and work.
"This annual day of hands-on community involvement is made possible by thousands of Windermere associates from our offices across the West," said Geoff Wood, president of Windermere Real Estate. "These dedicated volunteers understand the difference a day can make in building strong, healthy neighborhoods -- which is not only good for our business, it also enriches the community and lives of our clients, neighbors and ourselves."
