Headed to Mammoth Mountain

WS skier named to PNW Junior Olympics squad

Columbia High School junior Wells Stevenson will compete for the Pacific Northwest Ski Association's 2003 Junior Olympics team March 17-24 in the J1-J2 Western Region Championships at Mammoth Mountain, Calif.

Stevenson, one of 53 racers named to the PNSA team, will be making her debut in these alpine ski championships for racers 16-18 years of age.

During the recently completed 2002-03 PNSA season, Stevenson and her cousin and CHS classmate, Martha Ohlson, competed for Cooper Spur Race Team on the Northwest Cup circuit.

Stevenson's top slalom finish was a fourth place on Jan. 5 during Mount Hood Meadows' Winterstart Slalom.

Her best giant slalom finish -- fifth place -- came March 9 during the No Bull GS at Crystal Mountain.
