Prosecutor Reports On Court Cases

Cases tried in Klickitat County Superior Court

On Dec. 13, 2002, Karee Risteen, 24, Goldendale, was arrested in the Sentry parking lot in Goldendale for theft charges and in a search was found to be in possession of a pipe used for smoking methamphetamine. On Feb. 18, 2003, she pled guilty to one count of violation of the controlled substances act -- possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and was sentenced to 37 days confinement, 12 months community custody, and $1,905 in fines, costs and assessments. On the same date, Risteen pled guilty to one count of forgery for acts that took place in Goldendale on or about Nov. 30, 2002; she was sentenced to 30 days confinement, 12 months community custody, and $1,155 in fines and costs with restitution to the victims to be determined at a later date.

On Jan. 9, 2003, Curt Alan Pederson, 36, was convicted after jury trial of two counts of child molestation in the first degree, and four counts of rape of a child in the first degree.

Pederson had been convicted of rape of a child in the first degree on Nov. 15, 1993.

Pederson was sentenced to life imprisonment without possibility of early release. Pederson was also ordered to pay $10,710 in fines, penalties and costs and is to pay restitution to the victims in an amount to be determined at a later date.

On March 3, 2003, Lisa Lynette Oliver-Martin, 37, Goldendale, pled guilty to the offense of violation of the uniform controlled substance act -- possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Oliver-Martin was sentenced to 5 days in jail, 12 months of community custody, and ordered to pay $2,085 in fines, penalties and costs.

On March 5, 2003, Clayton Ray Jones, 22, Goldendale, pled guilty to the offense of violation of the uniform controlled substance act -- possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Jones was sentenced to 30 days in jail, 12 months community custody, and ordered to pay $2,610 in fines, costs and assessments.

On March 3, 2003, Erica Lynn Gonzalez, 19, Bingen, pled guilty to residential burglary and theft in the first degree.

Gonzalez was ordered to serve 60 days confinement in the county jail, 12 months of community custody ordered to pay $1,263.80 in fines, penalties and costs, and an amount for victim restitution to be determined at a later date.

On March 5, 2003, Roger Enis Hunt, 49, Wapato, pled guilty to possession of stolen property in the first degree.

Hunt was sentenced to two months confinement, 12 months community custody, and ordered to pay $2,527.50 in fines, costs, assessments and restitution.

On March 7, 2003, Daniel James Pascale, 22, Selah, pled guilty to theft in the first degree.

Pascale was sentenced to thirty days confinement, 12 months community custody, and ordered to pay $1,160 in fines, penalties and assessments and additional victim restitution to be determined at a later date.

On March 3, 2003, Gus A. Bane, 27, Goldendale, pled guilty to the offense of assault in the fourth degree.

Bane was sentenced to 365 days confinement in the county jail with 362 days suspended, credit for time served, 12 months active misdemeanor probation, and ordered to pay $1,712 in fines, penalties assessments and victim restitution in an amount to be determined at a later date.
