Consignment sale benefits CHS girls soccer program

Columbia High School girls soccer boosters have scheduled a sports equipment consignment sale for Saturday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the Whitson Elementary School gymnasium.

Forty percent of sales proceeds will go to support the CHS girls soccer program. Boosters are trying to raise $10,000 to cover the first two years of program operations.

According to organizer Craig Ludwig, the consignment sale offers sellers "your chance to clean out your garage and closet of all the gently used sports equipment that you no longer enjoy, and turn all that stuff into cash."

For buyers, the sale provides "a great opportunity to find magnificent deals on quality sports equipment to outfit yourself or the entire family at Super Special Buddy Bargain Basement Discount Prices," Ludwig added.

Recommended equipment categories include baseball, basketball, football, windsurfing, kayaking, rollerblading, golf, tennis, racquetball, skiing (downhill and cross country), snowboarding, physical training, mountain bikes, road bikes, kids bikes, jogging strollers and athletic shoes (all sports).

All equipment put up for sale should be in good, usable condition and reasonably priced, Ludwig said.

Equipment check-in is set for May 15 and 16, 4-8 p.m. Unsold equipment can be picked up on May 18. Unclaimed equipment will become property of the soccer boosters.
