During the week of June 2nd, Whitson Elementary will hold it's kindergarten registration and screening for next year.
If your child is not presently attending either White Salmon Head Start or the White Salmon Preschool, you will need to call Whitson Elementary for an appointment to register your child for the 2002-03 school year.
If your child is presently enrolled in Head Start or the White Salmon Preschool, you will not need to call for an appointment, your child has been screened and registered already.
Call the Whitson Elementary School office 493-1560 to schedule a time for registration and screening. Children must be scheduled for a time to attend the screening and registration. They will be scheduled for an entire afternoon. The office is open daily from 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Any child who is 5 years old by August 31, 2003, is eligible.
Parents will be able to completely register your child for the 2003-04 Kindergarten Program! Your child will be briefly evaluated for kindergarten readiness. The results of this evaluation will help the school plan now for the educational needs of its kindergarten students.
In addition to bringing your child, parents will need to bring a birth certificate, immunization record, photograph (to be left in your child's cumulative file for identification).
The Washington State requirements for entering kindergarten students are: DTP -- four to five doses, the last one given on or after the fourth birthday; polio -- three doses, the last one given on or after the fourth birthday; MMR -- two doses, one given at or after 12 months of age, for all students in school attendance; Hepatitis B -- three doses.
