Columbia High will make the all-too-familiar trip to Montesano this Friday for its 2003 football season finale.
Earlier this season, the Bruins traveled to Montesano for a non-league game against the Forks Spartans. They lost by a score of 27-7.
This weekend's matchup pits a pair of fifth-place, 3-6 teams against each other in a contest that will have no bearing on final standings. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
"Our goal this week is to get a win, then hit the weight room to get ready for next season," Bruins Coach Scott Ross said Monday.
"This should be a good matchup for us," he continued. "You've got to factor in the long trip; but if we get off the bus ready to play, it should be a good game. We'd like to end (this season) on a positive note."
The Bruins haven't fared well recently, regardless of where the game's been played. They have lost three in a row (one at home, three on the road) since back-to-back homefield victories over Ilwaco and Stevenson.
Montesano, like Columbia, never really got its season untracked. The Bulldogs lost the first two games of their Evergreen Division campaign, then faded in the second half, getting their only win against Tenino.
