Learn how to write grants at workshop

WSU and Chamber sponsor two-session seminar

Learn grant writing in White Salmon this fall at a two-session workshop co-sponsored by the WSU Learning Center -- Klickitat County and the Mt. Adams Chamber of Commerce.

Aspects of grant writing covered will include technical writing; the pieces of the proposal including the problem statement; statistics; budgets and matching funds; partnering (local, state, and federal); and grant sources and other funding.

Participants who have knowledge of a grant for which they would like to apply are encouraged to work on it as part of the class. Others will work on a practice grant.

The workshop leader, Jennifer Smith, has eight years of experience in writing grants and has written applications for economic development, telecommunications, education and human services. She has been a grant application reviewer for the Department of Commerce, NTIS/TIIAP and Avista.

The workshop is scheduled for Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break, Nov. 15 and 22, at WorkSource Columbia Gorge Room 203, 107 West Jewett, White Salmon.

The cost of the series is $90 including materials.
