On Dec. 8 at 6 p.m., small forest land owners are invited to a free presentation and discussion regarding alternative strategies for sustaining non-industrial, private forestlands. The meeting will be held at the Flying L Ranch in Glenwood. There will be pizza and other refreshments provided.

Forestry cooperatives, adding value to products to increase market access and creative financing tools for small business are among the topics to be discussed. Call Jay McLaughlin at 364-4198, or email him at with questions or to register your interest in attending.

Time on your hands or just willing to help when there is a need? I spoke to Linda Niskanen about her volunteer work with Klickitat County Senior Services today. She provides transportation for those in need of a ride to medical appointments. She is reimbursed for driving expenses and rewarded with gratitude from those she helps. Call senior services if you are interested in providing a similar service.

Enjoy the holiday season with those you love. Bonnie Reynolds
