Helping to stop hunger is the goal of the 14th annual Columbia Gorge CROP Walk on Sept. 28.
This fundraiser features walks of a 10K and 5K, as well as "Golden Mile" for senior citizens. Each walker secures sponsors, who can be family, relatives, friends, business associates, and anyone who will agree to pay any amount they wish to support the walker.
The goal of each walker is a sponsorship of $100 or more.
Registration for the walks begins at 1:30 p.m. on the day of the event at Hood River Valley Christian Church, 975 Indian Creek Road. The walk begins at 2 p.m. and finishes at Jackson Park.
Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital will sponsor a picnic at Jackson Park beginning at 3 p.m. Shuttle buses will return walkers to the church after the picnic.
Twenty-five percent of the funds raised at the local CROP Walk go to support the food banks of FISH in Hood River and KSDC in Bingen.
The walk is sponsored by the Gorge Ecumenical Ministries.
