The Don Juan Con: A young woman dozes at a spa, preparing for her lavish wedding, while her glamorous fiance speeds out of town with her cash.
Meet Pacific Northwest author Sara Williams at the Waucoma Bookstore in Hood River on Friday, Aug. 6.
This caper novel begins in Florida and ends in the San Juan Islands of Washington State. After extensive market testing by the publisher, The Don Juan Con was rolled out nationally over the 4th of July weekend with an advertising campaign to 1500 stores.
Williams is a former columnist and staff writer for The News-Press of Ft. Myers, Fla. While on the paper, she once helped a woman track down and jail a con artist who romanced her out of her money. Years, later, when she had time to do fiction writing, she would see stories about these swindlers on TV.
"Most of these stories focused on the police work, which in many instances, is minimal. In just a few months, this novel has helped various women realize what was happening to them," Williams said.
