Glenwood News for August 12

By the

The Klickitat County Style Review was held in Glenwood at the school last Friday. It was a full day of activities for the young 4-H ers. Alex Woodin from Goldendale was the champion in the junior division of the Style Revue portion with Kylie Montgomery of Glenwood the reserve champion. In the Construction part of the contest, Kaylene Tyndell from Glenwood was the champion with Kylie Montgomery the reserve champion. In the Intermediate division, Neola Putman was the champion in Style Revue and Construction, with Katie Wasgatt the reserve champion in both events. The senior champion in Construction and Style Revue was Candi Kuhnhausen. Ashley Woodward won the Creative Consumer Award. All of these girls are from Glenwood. Other Glenwood participants were intermediates Georgie Kokas, Jamie Booher and Julia LaVallie.

The first annual 4-H county pre-fair workshop was held at the rodeo grounds and the school last weekend. The youth participated in fitting and showing classes with steers and lambs, making educational posters, doing small sewing projects, some cooking, crafts and photo judging. It was a big success, so maybe it will be an annual event.

A trip to Cannon Beach and Seaside was enjoyed by Wanee Kuhnhausen, daughter Karen Saunders and granddaughter Marissa Prosser. They had fairly good weather (a little rain) and the beach was wonderful. A good time was spent shopping and sightseeing.

Marci Cooper is spending a week in Lawton, Okla., visiting her son Bill and grandson Will. Sounds like a hot place to be in August.

Jack House is doing some visiting of his own right now. Jack is in LaGrande, Ore., with his son for a few weeks.

The wrong email address was given last week for the news. Please send any news to Sorry about the error.

Hope everyone can spend at least one day at the county fair next week. The activities start Thursday, Aug. 19, with the 4-H animals being shown in the morning and a fantastic barbeque from 5 to 7 p.m. Animals are shown again Friday with the penning and branding in the evening. Horse show events, entertainment, lots to eat, lots to see and people to visit with you have not seen in awhile. There is a rodeo both Saturday and Sunday. Come on over and watch the festivities.
