Report for Washington State Patrol

Sarah R. Buck, 25, Skamania, was transported to Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver with a scalp laceration, following a one-vehicle accident on Aug. 18, 2004, at 1:44 a.m.

According to the report, Buck was driving her 1986 Ford pickup eastbound on state Route 14 near milepost 28. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, colliding with the guardrail. The vehicle then veered to the left, traveling off the north side of the roadway and striking an embankment. The vehicle rolled onto its passenger side, coming to rest blocking the westbound lane.

The state patrol responded to a two-vehicle accident on Aug. 15, 2004, at approximately 6:09 p.m. on SR 97 near Pat's Ranch Mart.

According to the report, Jenny K. Perala, 33, Yakima, was driving her 1995 Nissan Pathfinder northbound on SR 97. A second vehicle, a 1994 Chevrolet Geo driving by Elizabeth A. Smiley, 55, Goldendale, was also traveling northbound behind Perala's vehicle. When Perala slowed her vehicle to make a left turn at Pat's Ranch Mart, she was struck from behind by the Smiley's vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest blocking the southbound lane and the inside of the northbound lane.

Smiley was cited for following too close.

Smiley was transported to Klickitat Valley Hospital with head and neck pain. Perala refused aid and drove herself to KVH for abdominal and back pain. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
