New hours announced

Meadows plans to open more lifts half hour earlier in 2004-05

More Winter Recreation:

Mt. Hood Meadows has announced new operating hours for the 2004-05 ski season.

This winter, more lifts (weather permitting, of course) will be scheduled to open at 8:30 a.m. every day. They include Mt. Hood Express, Hood River Express, Shooting Star Express and the new Vista Express.

Meadows says earlier openings will better distribute skiers and snowboarders around the mountain and avoid the potential for "pile up" at Mt. Hood Express while they wait for other lifts to open.

The operational schedule for 2004-05 will be: 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Tuesday; 8:30 a.m.-9 p.m., Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday; and 8:30 a.m.-10 p.m., Friday-Saturday.

In addition, night skiing will start an hour earlier, at 3 p.m. instead of 4 p.m., to give evening skiers and snowboarders some daylight to hit the lifts that close at 4 p.m.
