Library to hold annual holiday wassail

Friends invite community to celebration

The Friends of the White Salmon Valley Community Library invite the community to its 30th Annual Holiday Wassail celebration.

The Open House will be on Saturday, Dec. 11, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Library.

Join the Friends for an afternoon of music, art and refreshments, to help celebrate the holiday season.

Local artists and artisans will be on hand to informally demonstrate their craft and inspiration. Artisans include Robin Swanhuyser creating glass and silver custom jewelry, Fanny Domijan with bead & hemp jewelry and accessories, and the Northwest Regional Spinning Association will feature local fiber artists demonstrating spinning, knitting and other techniques. A quilt display with handwork by Patty and Suann Gray of Trout Lake, Donn Williams of The Dalles, and Marilyn Vosika of Snowden will be on display in the Sprint/Baker Gallery during the Wassail and throughout the month of December. Children's' Holiday Crafts will continue throughout the afternoon.

Music this year will include Judy Skelton, of Trout Lake, on the piano throughout the afternoon with intermittent Holiday sing-a-longs.

The Asbury Hand Bell Choir will play at 2 p.m. The White Salmon Children's' Christmas Choir will perform at 3 p.m.

Friends of the Library will provide a delicious array of sweet and savory refreshments along with their traditional hot Wassail punch.
