Hospice of The Gorge is hosting three Light Up a Life celebrations of life throughout The Gorge.
The celebrations offer local residents an opportunity to remember departed loved ones or honor special people during the holiday season.
The names of all Hospice of The Gorge patients who died during the year will be read at each event, along with the names of others whose names are submitted to Hospice. Music, inspirational readings and reflections from various members of the community will provide background for the celebrations.
The deadline for submitting names to be read is Dec. 27.
Deborah Jaques, Executive Director for Hospice of The Gorge says: "Each year, Hospice sponsors Light Up a Life celebrations so that people living throughout The Gorge can have a special opportunity to remember their departed loved ones during the holiday season. We want to be sure people have a place to go, where they can feel comforted, and where they can be with others who want to take time out to reflect and remember."
Jaques goes on to say that Celebrations of Life are hosted by local churches, but are non-denominational. She says: "Churches in the communities we serve have been very gracious to us over the years, and we appreciate their generosity very much."
Light Up a Life celebrations of life will be held in Hood River, White Salmon and The Dalles, as follows:
White Salmon, Bethel Congregational Church, Saturday, Jan. 8, 10 a.m., music by St. Joseph's Choir.
The Dalles, Gateway Presbyterian Church, Saturday, Jan. 8, 2 p.m., music by Heartbeat.
