The Mid-Columbia Community Concert Association will present Scott Kirby, pianist/composer, on Thursday, Jan. 8, at 7:30 p.m. at The Dalles High Auditorium.
The third of four association concerts, Kirby will present a program entitled "American Classics," which will include ragtime, tango, terre verde, blues, early jazz and Creole music.
Critics call Kirby "one of the best interpreters of ragtime music on the scene today."
Kirby is known for his light-hearted and friendly way of presenting workshops for students of all ages in band programs.
He will be presenting a workshop at The Dalles High School auditorium at 1:40 p.m., Jan. 8, prior to his concert.
It will be sponsored by the Mid-Columbia Concert Association and Columbia River Bank.
He is the musical director of the Scott Joplin International Ragtime Festival and also the Rocky Mountain Ragtime Festival.
Admission to the concert is included in Mid-Columbia Concert Association membership. Admission for non-members is $25, or $15 for students.
