Planning Department reviews WS school district zoning plans

Deadline for appeals is Jan. 16

The Klickitat County Planning Department is considering a zone change from "suburban residential" to "public" for a 1.75-acre parcel; and a comprehensive plan amendment from "residential" to "community" on approximately 54.98 acres at NW Loop Road in White Salmon.

The applicant on the proposal is the White Salmon School District.

According to the application, the reason for the zone change proposal is because "there are no existing community designated areas within the comprehensive plan, nor the White Salmon/Bingen subarea plan. The requested amendment would create a community designation that is consistent with the uses of the properties and rezones that have or are taking place currently."

The proposal is scheduled for a public hearing before the Klickitat County Planning Commission on Feb. 17 in Goldendale. Comments received by the Planning Department before Feb. 5 will be incorporated into the staff review.

The Klickitat County Planning Department has issued a "determination of non-significance" (DNS) for the project, which means that the Planning Department has determined that the proposal "does not have a probable significant adverse impact on the environment."
