A 2000 Volvo 80,000, driven by John R. Stolmeier, 51, Ridgefield, was involved in a one-vehicle accident on Jan. 24, 2004.

The accident occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. on State Route 97 near milepost 31.

According to the report, Stolmeier was driving northbound on SR 97 in black ice conditions. The vehicle lost traction with the right front wheel catching in the snow berm and forcing the vehicle to the right into the northbound ditch. The trailers then swung around to the left side as the tractor started to rotate into the ditch. Both trailers and the tractor slid into the northbound ditch and came to rest on the driver's side.

Stolmeier, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.

Three individuals were transported to a medical facility following a one-vehicle accident Jan. 24, 2004, on SR 14 near milepost 30.95.

According to the report, Hannia L. Miranda Rodriquez, 49, Portland, Ore., was driving her 2002 Nissan eastbound. The state patrol report said she was traveling too fast for conditions. Rodriquez lost control of the vehicle, which crossed the westbound lanes and struck a rock wall on the north side of the roadway.

Rodriquez refused aid. Three passengers in her car -- Sergio E. Zeledon, 25, Portland, Diego A. Barnett, 12, and Ester Avila, 3, were transported to Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver. Zeledon was treated for a broken arm, Barnett was treated for broken teeth, and Avila was transported for observation but was not injured.

Rodriquez and Zeledon were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. Barnett was not wearing a seatbelt and it was unknown whether Avila had on a seatbelt.
