Trout Lake was a buzz with activities throughout the rainy weekend.
The Mt. Adams Endurance Riders sponsored the 8th Annual endurance ride. Trails of 12, 25, 50 and 75 miles through the Gifford Pinchot, Cambell Group, S.D.S. and D.N.R. lands offered 125 riders from throughout the region a day's challenge and pleasure. The Trout Lake Fire Department made sure there was adequate water for the horses on the ride. Ham radio operators from the Gorge handled communication needs along the route.
Betsy and Linsey Scott of Trout Lake rode 12 miles for their first endurance ride. Twelve-year-old Linsey won first place in the junior division !
In spite of the rain, Betty Jolley and the American Cancer Society volunteers washed cars and sold baked goods at the school. Betty and the Bob Jolley Construction Zone Relay for Life Team thank the community for its generosity in supporting the bake sale and car wash. The response was terrific and boosted the team on its way.
Dave and Laurie Sherburne , Lon and Tammy Ballard left early Saturday morning with the 18 members of the senior class for the seniors' trip to Gold Beach -- poignant recollections of our own long past senior trips, and a hope these seniors have an experience to fortify them through the coming years of challenge.
Graduation is Friday night, June 11, at 7:30 at the school. Greta Doede is valedictorian, Mike Hansen the salutatorian and Martha Hilton will be the guest speaker.
Mt. Adams Baptist Church welcomes Adam Peck as its new pastor. He and wife Angela Pierson Peck are well known to the Trout Lake community. Angela, daughter of Monty and Laura Pierson is a graduate and lifelong resident of Trout Lake.
The posters and mailers for the Trout Lake Art Festival will be out soon. Look in the listing of musicians for the mention of guest piano performances by Matt Deardon and Adam Paxson, along with Michael Allen Harrison !
