Trout Lake's boys track and field team made another strong showing, finishing third in a 12-team field at the Lions Twilight Invitational Track and Field meet last Friday in Goldendale.
The Mustangs won five events to account for half of their 100 points. Goldendale and Zillah, with 145 each, shared the team title
Senior Mike Hansen scored two Trout Lake's first-place finishes with victories in the 110-meter high and 300-meter intermediate hurdles.
His times were 15.89 seconds over the 110s and 41.7 over the 300s. He also ran a leg for Trout Lake's victorious 4x400 relay team, which took the tape in 3:40.77.
Trout Lake also got firsts from juniors Adam Paxson and Matt Dearden. Paxson prevailed in the 1600 (4:43.85), while Dearden led the way in the 800 (2:08.34).
Freshman Tim Dearden posted the Mustangs' only second-place finish. That came in the 3200; his time was 11:13.33.
Third-place points for Trout Lake came from juniors Ben Steward in the pole vault (9 feet even) and Peter Schmid in the 300 hurdles (42.38), and its 4x100 relay (46.89).
Trout Lake's girls team scored 24 points but turned in just one winning performance.
That was by sophomore distance runner Adi Robertson, who won the 3200 in 12:45.76.
The team's other top finishes came from its 4x100 relay (fourth, 58.12) and freshman Kim Poland (fourth, 100 intermediate hurdles, 18.04).
