Conservation district to inaugurate compost demonstration site in park

Year-long effort to be recognized May 13

On Thursday, May 13, at 3 p.m. the Underwood Conservation District will be sponsoring the inauguration of a Compost Demonstration Site, located in Rhinegarten Park in White Salmon.

The inauguration is the culmination of a year long effort by the UCD, City of White Salmon, City of Bingen, Klickitat County Waste Department, Washington Department of Ecology, Northwest Service Academy, SDS Lumber, Gjinos Masonry, Jewett Creek Stream Keepers and assorted local businesses to educate the public on one of the easiest most beneficial methods of reducing garbage and recycling household waste.

John Longfellow, from the Klickitat County Waste Department, will use the site to give a presentation on composting methods and use.

If you're interested in composting or just curious about the new display in the park Center, come on down to Rhinegarten Park on Lincoln St., downtown White Salmon.

Refreshment will be provided.

If you have any questions give the Underwood Conservation District a call at (509) 493-1936
