What a beautiful place we live in. Every time I go out with my weeder, I see another plant I had forgotten I had! For years, I had mulched my flower beds with bark chips, and was discouraged with the lack of flourish. Leslie Wallace said any time you use bark chips, you should also use manure -- voila! It works, my soil is beautiful -- and she has less horse manure to deal with !
It's official, Ray Thygesen will coordinate this year's Trout Lake Fair. The first fair meeting was May 23. Look for information about upcoming meetings and decide what you might be willing to contribute by way of time and talent to this treasured event.
Ray is also coordinating clean up crews for x-country ski trail maintenance. The next work day is June 19. Call Ray at 395-2318 for information regarding either of these service opportunities.
Take note: Dave Sherburne and Marlyn Bast are among nine artists featured in this month's show at the Columbia Art Gallery. The show is titled "Take it Outside" and is of art and craft to enjoy outside. Dave is showing nine wonderful plant studies -- painted in acrylic on board -- that would look great beside the front door. They are simple and very delicate -- Asian looking. Marlyn is showing tables, bird baths and trellises -- very very nice.
