New officers named to Historical Society

New members, visitors, guests welcome

Barbara Sexton, Lyle, was elected president of the West Klickitat County Historical Society last week.

Others joining her include Iris Bodine-Wahlbrink, vice president; Linea Denis, secretary; and Gail Logan, treasurer. New members welcomed to the board of trustees are Mike Wellman and Linea Denis.

The objects of the society are to discover, preserve and disseminate knowledge about the history of west Klickitat and east Skamania counties and the state of Washington.

The museum, named Gorge Heritage Museum, is located at 202 E. Humboldt St., Bingen.

The society is grateful for the generous $5,000 gift from the Mary Hoyt Stevenson Foundation to further the museum building project. The project involves accessibility to all to visit the museum collections. The city of Bingen and the society are working together on this major project.

New members, visitors and guests are welcome. Current museum volunteers are seeking new participants, ideas and suggestions. Interested? Call 493-3228 for additional information.
