Family presentation gobbles for turkeys

Program slated Nov. 20 at Discovery Center

The Columbia Gorge Discovery Center invites you to join us for a one-hour family presentation on "Turkeys Past and Present," Saturday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m.

Steve Rice, Glenn Bauer and Gretchen Blair will talk about the history, habits and the differences between wild and domestic turkeys. As part of their presentation they will provide an up close opportunity to meet a live turkey.

Rice, of The Dalles, is an outdoor educator who has taught at the Discovery Center, created day camps for kids, and has served as a forest service interpreter.

Bauer and Blair of Wishram own and operate a vineyard and on the side, raise free range quail, chukars, and turkeys. Bauer volunteers at Wildlife Rescue of the Gorge, rehabilitating wildlife and conducting community education programs with live birds.
