Join the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and Museum in celebrating eight years of discovery and interpreting history with Community Appreciation Day Sunday, May 8.
Enjoy free admission to the museum and a special presentation at 2 p.m. "Mount Adams Volcano: The Inside Story," by Darryl Lloyd, a recognized authority on Mount Adams.
This one-hour slide show will be a history-based tour of Mount Adams. Expect stunning photography of a unique wilderness: flower-filled meadows, cascading streams, once-in-a-lifetime geologic events, and life clinging to all sides of 12,276-ft. Mount Adams.
Lloyd of Hood River, who grew up on a ranch near Glenwood on the southeast side of Mount Adams, has been a full-time freelance photographer since 1997. His photos have appeared in both regional and national publications and have won numerous awards.
Community Appreciation Day is an expression of gratitude to the local community for the support it provides to the Discovery Center throughout the year.
Free admission includes access to all exhibition areas, including Cargo: Equipment and Supplies of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
"We invite the community to come out to the museum and enjoy the discovery experience," said marketing director Renee Walasavage.
