County planners review Bickleton wind project

Determination of non-significance issued

The Klickitat County Planning Department has issued a "mitigated determination of non-significance" (MDNS) on the proposed development and operation of a wind energy facility including up to 167 wind turbines that would generate up to 250.5 megawatts of electric power. The project would include related and supporting facilities, such as access roads, meteorological towers, a substation, an interconnection substation, maintenance and operations building, overhead transmission line, and an underground electric cable system.

The project is proposed for an area south of Bickleton.

The applicant on the conditional use application for the project is PPM Energy, Inc., of Portland.

Written comments related to the MDNS can be submitted to the Planning Department until Jan. 7 at 5 p.m. Send to: Planning Department, 228 W. Main Street, MS: CH-17, Goldendale, Wash., 98620.

The deadline for appeals is also Jan. 7.

A public hearing on the proposed wind energy facility is planned, but the date has not yet been scheduled.
