Eagles post first league win; Vandals hold onto slim division lead

Klickitat maintained a narrow advantage over Bickleton in the Klickitat County Division of the Greater Columbia B League following last weekend's action.

The Vandals did so by defeating the visiting Lyle Cougars, 43-32, in a make-up GCB game last Saturday.

Aryn Davis scored 12 points and Andrea Justman added 11 for Klickitat, which outscored Lyle, 17-5, in the third quarter.

Lyle's Tara Rappe led all scorers with 17 points, hitting five shots from the 3-point line.

Ashley Brasuell scored 18 points and Dave'y Lumley had 14 as the Eagles won their first GCB game and broke a lengthy losing streak.

Glenwood seized control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring Tribal 15-0 on its way to a 32-7 halftime lead.

A 20-0 first-quarter blitz carried the Vikings past the Cougars Jan. 21.

"This game was decided quickly because we were unable to handle their full-court pressure," Cougars Coach Verlyn Smith noted.

Mabton had four players in double figures versus Lyle's one: Tara Rappe, who finished with 10 points. Jessica Struck contributed four points and a team-leading eight rebounds.
