Bertha Brown, 83, a resident of The Dalles, died at her home on Wednesday, May 26, 2005.
She was born Dec. 17, 1921, in Kendrick, Idaho, the second of seven children to Frank and Stella Mae (Eatmon) Abrams. She grew up in Idaho until the family moved to Underwood, Washington, where she attended schools in White Salmon.
She married Charles Erving Brown on June 25, 1960, in Stevenson, and they lived and raised their family in The Dalles. Mrs. Brown worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural route mail carrier, retiring in 1984.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, flowers, animals, knitting and crocheting.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her children Deanna Molina, The Dalles, Marsha Taylor, Portland, Albert W. Prante, Wahkiacus, and Ronald Prante, Portland; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Fred, Andy and Harry Abrams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Brown, her two sisters Dorothy and Betty, her brother Frank and a grandchild Chance Kaseburg.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2005, at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home, with interment following at Three Mile Road Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Bingen resident Arline Alice Bye died at her home on May 31, 2005, at the age of 68. She was born in Stevenson, on Jan. 1, 1937, the daughter of Dolly (Moore) and Elon Manning.
Mrs. Bye grew up in Stevenson and later moved to Bingen. She enjoyed doing beadwork and loved building ponds, watching fish, and growing flowers. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge.
Surviving is her son Kenneth Samsel of Camas; brother Rex Manning of Klickitat; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mrs. Bye was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Samsel.
Her family will observe services at a later date.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gardner Funeral Home's Columbia River Crematory.
A funeral service for Alfred Byron Nordstrom will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2005, at 1 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon. Interment will take place at Lyle Balch Cemetery.
