Michael L. Gold, 39, Washougal, suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident he was involved in on June 22, 2005.

The accident occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m. on State Route 14 near milepost 36.8.

According to the report, Gold was driving a 1982 dump truck westbound on SR 14. He reached across the cab for a beverage and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then veered off the roadway and landed in the ditch on the northside of the roadway, coming to rest on its passenger side.

Gold was cited for negligent driving.

A Portland man was killed when he was involved in a three-vehicle accident on Friday at 7:10 p.m. on SR 14 at milepost 22.7.

According to the report, William T. Stafford III, 52, Portland, was traveling westbound on SR 14, driving a 1969 BMW motorcycle, when he crossed the double lane divider for reasons still under investigation. He came into contact with the left side and rear of a 2003 Dodge pickup driving by Mark R. Hartley, 36, Kelso. The motorcycle then spun into the right front side of a 2004 Jeep Cherokee driven by Scott A. Nylund, 36, La Center.

The motorcycle came to rest on the eastbound fog line, approximately 30 feet from the original collision. Stafford was pronounced dead at the scene from massive body trauma.

Neither Hartley nor Nylund were injured in the accident.
