Habitat silent auction, concert a great event

Mark your calendars for this Saturday

The Mid Columbia chapter of Habitat for Humanity's fundraiser at the Hood River Hotel this Saturday from 6 to 9:30 p.m. promises to be a lot of fun, as well as an opportunity to bid on a large number of interesting things.

The many exciting auction items include a horse, an automobile, and a private wine tasting event.

Music will be provided by the Gorge's own Topic Soil band.

A $10 donation will be collected at the door.

Habitat for Humanity is now involved internationally, building houses for families with limited resources who would not otherwise be able to become homeowners.

A selected family participates with other volunteers to construct the house and then assumes an interest free mortgage.

The Mid-Columbia chapter of Habitat for Humanity serves the area encompassed by the White Salmon School District and Hood River county.

The local chapter will begin construction of its first house this spring in Odell, Ore.
