The American Red Cross needs 25 volunteers for a one-day disaster training exercise in The Dalles on Tuesday, May 10.
Participants can be any age and families are welcome. The exercise will simulate a disaster in the Mid-Columbia area.
Participants will be taken to a shelter, fed dinner and snacks and see in "real time" what the American Red Cross does in the event of a disaster in their community.
"This will be a great exercise for anyone who would like to become prepared and see what the American Red Cross is all about," said Hannah Settje, manager of the Red Cross' Columbia River District.
For more information or to register, call Settje at (541) 386-6000.
The Columbia River District of the Oregon Mountain River Chapter serves Wasco, Hood River, Skamania, Klickitat, Sherman, and Gilliam counties.
