The annual Community Thanksgiving Service will be held this year on Sunday evening, Nov. 20, at the White Salmon United Methodist Church.
The service begins at 7 p.m. and will feature hymn singing as well as community choirs. Bringing the Thanksgiving message will be Rev. Bernie Krager of White Salmon. His sermon is titled "Come Before Winter."
As it has been for as long as many can remember, church members of all faiths, and others in our community, have come together on the Sunday evening before Thanksgiving to celebrate this important national holiday in song, prayer and words of wisdom. For many it has become as traditional as the turkey dinner or the annual football game.
Among the musical groups to sing will be members of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church choir and the choir of the White Salmon United Methodist Church.
The free offering will go, as always, to replenish the Emergency Fund sponsored by the community churches. The Fund aids families and individuals in need when local social service agencies are unable to help.
The evening will conclude with a time of fellowship and refreshments provided by the White Salmon United Methodist Church and Bethel Congregational Church.
All area residents, church members or not, are invited to take part in this traditional celebration of Thanksgiving.
