The Christmas decorated Fire Truck Caravan with Santa will be pulling into Lyle on Dec. 17 about 6:30 p.m. The caravan will stop at the Lyle Park Place to let Santa chat with the children. Put this on your calendar for a fun family evening at the park; the council will provide treats.

The Christmas Lights Contest sponsored by the council will not need applications for anyone inside the city limits. If you want your home judged and live out of Lyle proper please send directions to PO Box 88 Lyle, Wash. or call Mildred at 365-0060 or Darla at 365-4332 with your address and driving directions. We want to include all who wish to compete. The judging date will be announced in next week's news.

Do you have information to put into the next community newsletter calendar regarding group meetings? Please contact Joy Collins at 365-5102. News articles or changes you may wish to see in the format?, contact Mildred at 365-0060. The council will set the goal of having the newsletter out the first week or so of January 2006. Community contributions are welcomed!

2006 -- WOW here we go again, wasn't it JUST January 2005?

Excerpts from a pamphlet issued by The Lyle Commercial Club (date unknown but was after 1910). "Lyle has a Bank, Newspaper, Telephones, Rural Mail, two general Stores carrying large stocks, two Livery Stables, Drug Store, two Hotels, etc. and will soon have other new businesses blocks, graded streets, cement sidewalks, modern water works, new school and church."

"Lyle has splendid railroad service, is an important junction point and has daily steamer service on the Columbia River to Portland. The Lyle Commercial Club will be glad to furnish truthful information to intending home seekers and investors." (End of this article.)

Who can I blame for my own problems? Give me just a minute...I'll find someone.
