Grizzlies Gridiron Roundup

Henkle eighth-graders eke out third win

Defenses dominated in a pair of middle school football games at CHS Stadium last Thursday.

Henkle's eighth-grade team ran its record to 3-0 with an 8-6 victory over Wind River in the second game of the double-header.

Jenson Ladiges scored from 40 yards on a sweep to the left in the second quarter and Steven Beattie booted the two-point conversion to account for the Grizzlies' points.

Another Henkle touchdown in the third quarter was called back because of a holding penalty.

In the battle between seventh-grade teams, Henkle got a 55-yard punt return by Stephen Sams in the second quarter of a 13-6 loss to Wind River.

"Both turned out to be hard-fought, tough games," Grizzlies Coach Dan Smith said.

The Grizzlies make their final home stand this Thursday against Castle Rock. The action starts at 4 p.m.
