Stevenson teen killed in car wreck

Accident occurred homecoming night

The Skamania County Sheriff's Office is investigating a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles, that occurred at approximately 5:35 p.m. on Oct. 7.

The collision occurred on the Wind River Road at approximately milepost 3, just north of Carson.

One of the vehicles involved, a 1994 Toyota pickup, was driven by 16-year-old Carson resident Alex Olsen. One of the passengers in the pickup, 17-year-old Jason Niedert, died as a result of the collision.

Olson and a second passenger, 16-year-old Stevenson resident Tyler MacKinnon, were transported by ambulance to Skyline Hos[ital.

The other vehicle involved in the accident was a 1992 Chrysler van driven by Sandra Goldberg, 31, Portland. She was also transported to Skyline Hospital in White Salmon.

The Skamania County Sheriff's Office received several 911 calls reporting the collision.

Fire District #1 of Carson, Stevenson Fire Department, Skamania County EMS and a Washington State Patrol trooper all responded to the incident.

The Skamania County Sheriff's Office is investing the accident.
