A subpar night of hitting and serving the ball for Klickitat ended in a four-set Greater Columbia B League loss to visiting La Salle Sept. 21.
The Vandals (3-1 in GCB, 3-1 overall) evened the match at one set apiece, winning the second set, 25-23, after losing the first, 25-20.
But the Lightning regained the momentum in the third, holding on for a 25-23 victory. They finished the Vandals off with a 25-17 verdict in the fourth.
Klickitat totaled only eight kills in 34 chances and completed just 85 percent of their serves (60/71 with 5 aces.)
Sherri Brewer led the Vandals with four kills, and Aryn Davis added three.
Davis and Melissa Huwe, who tallied seven saves, shared the team lead in aces with two each.
Klickitat defeated Mabton in straight sets Sept. 20, taking the GCB home match by scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-19.
The Vandals put 89 percent of their serves in play (62/70 with 4 aces), were successful on 16-of-39 attacks (41 percent) and made 20 saves.
Davis (8 kills, 4 blocks, 4 saves, 2 aces), Brewer (5 kills, 2 blocks), Huwe (8 saves, 3 assists), Trisheena Keys (16/17 serving, 4 saves, 3 assists) and Kali Linville (15 assists, 2 saves) provided highlights for Klickitat.
