Spring is here and First Friday in Hood River is ready to celebrate with art, music and community.
Come to downtown Hood River on Friday, April 7, beginning at 5 p.m. and join in the fun and festivities.
Artists working in diverse media are on hand to showcase and sell their art while a variety of performers entertain throughout the downtown area. Each participating business extends its hours until 8 p.m. and hosts one or more featured artists.
Each month, a guest curator will guide a tour to meet artists whose work will be set up in host businesses. This month Art, Walk, Talk will take place at the Columbia Art Gallery beginning at 6:30 p.m., featuring environmental artists Dan Dancer and Diana Thompson.
A few of the artists to look for this month include: Rian Nielsen (mixed media), Sabrina Hirsh (sculptor), Kathy Crow (custom jewelry), Musa Jaman (mixed media), Jordan Vinograd (recycled paper collage), Susanne Lorenzi (floral artist), Darryl Lloyd (photography), Karen Watson (pastels), Susan Ballier (photography), Brenda Dunn (contemporary pinup artist), Cathleen Rehfeld (oil paintings), My Name is Danny (short film by Shannon Foster), and C.F. Button (author of Quicksand Plot) at Waucoma Bookstore.
This month's show at the Columbia Art Gallery features Gesture in Place; an art show designed to get people to stop for a moment, and to think about our relationship with the natural world.
Some music samplings to be enjoyed include Kate Maloy Trio, Pennies and Small Change, Connie Dunnington, and live DJ.
