Bruins sweep Wildcats, get back to .500 in Trico Division race

Columbia High evened its Trico Division baseball record at 3-3 Monday afternoon with a double-header sweep of La Center at Hecomovich Field.

The Bruins (7-5) won the opener, 17-2, finishing off a game that began on March 31 but couldn't be completed because of rain.

Nick Reeves and Jace Yeager each had three hits and two runs batted in for Columbia, which scored 12 of its runs in a big seventh inning.

In the nightcap, right-hander Jared McDonald tossed a three-hit shutout at the Wildcats.

David Giron had three hits to help lead the Bruins' 10-hit attack. Danny Giron and Taylor Champion each drove in two runs.

Last week, Columbia earned a split with Ridgefield, erupting for eight runs in the top of the sixth en route to a 9-5 victory.

Danny Giron slugged three doubles--two in the sixth--and knocked in four runs to pace the Bruins. The left-hander also got the win, allowing nine hits, including a two-run homer, while pitching a complete game.
