The annual "Community Pride Week" cleanup is under way all this week, and this Friday at noon the campaign kicks into high gear.
The cleanup collection site is located on Lakeview Road, just east of the Bingen Public Works Department shop adjacent to the water treatment plant.
Community members can drop off scrap metal; reusable furniture and clothing, recyclable paper, plastic, and glass; building materials; household appliances; brush, tree limbs, and yard debris; and used tires (for a fee).
Times the drop-off site is open runs from noon-4 p.m. on Friday, April 28, and from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, April 29-30.
New this year, a veterans group will have a truck at the collection site, and will accept items such as clothing, used appliances, and bicycles for a veterans' thrift store in Portland.
Also, Second Hand Rose, the used clothing store at 225 W. Steuben in Bingen, is looking for clean women's business clothing as well as men's work clothing, especially work boots. Donations will be accepted at the store from Wednesday, April 26, through Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The cleanup is organized by the Mount Adams Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the White Salmon & Bingen Rotary Club.
