Families in the Park starts this Thursday in Hood River

First concert features Double Trouble

The annual Embarq Families in the Park concert series starts on Aug. 3 and continues every Thursday through Aug. 31.

The opening night, Aug. 3, starts with a Gorge gymnastics demonstration at 6:15 p.m. At 7 p.m., the headliner will be Double Trouble, one of the best country bands in the Northwest. They will perform until 9 p.m.

The Eye Openers Lions Club will be serving Mexican fajita dinners for anyone wanting to eat and support the Lions. There will also be dozens of concessions available in the park throughout the night, and beach balls will be passed out.

On Aug. 10, the Coats will take the stage with their amazing vocals.

Aug. 17 will bring the sounds of the 70s with the 12-piece band Power of 10.

Aug. 24 will be a night not to miss as Las Vegas impersonators Neil Diamond and Tina Turner will bring their electrifying show to the Gorge.

The final night of Aug. 31 is Boka Marimba, a 10-piece African rhythms group.

Each headliner has a warmup entertainer starting at 6:15 p.m., and a family barbecue starting at 6 p.m.
