Valley teams dominate County squads in crossover games

All four Klickitat County Division teams went down in defeat last Saturday in Greater Columbia B League crossover games against Yakima County Division opponents.

Klickitat County Division leader Lyle got blown out by Riverside Christian, 64-31, much to Cougars Coach Joe Bales' dismay.

"We didn't show up to play and got outplayed in every aspect of the game," Bales said.

The visiting Cougars (5-4 in GCB, 7-10 overall) did manage to win the rebound battle, 24-21, but that wasn't enough to offset their defensive lapses and lack of execution at the offensive end.

"Defensively we didn't protect our basket and gave up layup after layup," Bales noted. "Offensively we never got into any flow, and rather than rallying together to make good things happen, we went one-on-one and couldn't accomplish anything."

Joey Nelson led Lyle with 12 points, while Chris Pynch put in 22 to pace Riverside (6-2, 13-3).
