Fire alarms rang out early Monday, Feb. 13, broadcasting the cry for help as Dan and Evelyn Cochenour's home was engulfed in flames. The word is that they lost everything. The Lions club and the school community will be hosting a benefit for them. It will be a "Nacho Feed" on Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lyle Lions Club. Donations will be accepted at the door.
Bill and Wendy Hamm became proud grandparents again as Eric and Karissa had a baby girl on Feb. 13. Josephine Page joins two older sisters, Lilly Beth and Drew. Congratulations!
Dori Johnson wishes to thank all who sent cards and flowers during her recent hospital stay. She is now home and on the road to recovery.
The Republicans are holding a pooled caucus at the Lyle High School, March 7, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. All Republicans who live in Lyle, East Lyle, West Klickitat, East Klickitat, Appleton, North Dalles, River or High Prairie precincts are encouraged to attend. Call Cal Edwards, 365-3563, if you have questions. Delegates to the County Convention will be selected at this meeting.
The next council meeting will be Feb. 27. Klickitat County Prosecuting Attorney Tim O'Neil, Klickitat County Sheriff Chris Mace, head of the planning department Skip Grimes, and county code enforcer Joyce DeVries will all be in attendance to listen to your concerns about drugs, crime and the County Nuisance Ordinance. Remind your neighbors and family to attend the meeting and express your interest to have these problems resolved.
Churches in Lyle are United Methodist, 403 Klickitat St, and Lyle Celebration Center, 715 Washington St.
Taken from The History of Klickitat County Washington published by Klickitat County Historical Society in 1982: "The Robert McMurrin Family -- Robert began work at J. Neils Lumber Co. (now St. Regis) in March 1951 and has worked there continuously since. A son, Eugene Lee, was born July 31, 1953 but lived only a few hours. The McMurrin's bought a house on the Klickitat River in 1956 where Tim Alan was born Mar. 22, 1958."
The more nonsense you put up with, the more nonsense you are going to get.
