Vandals' winning streak reaches six games

Klickitat ran its winning streak to six games last Saturday with a 50-33 Greater Columbia B League victory at Lyle.

Aryn Davis led all scorers with 18 points, Trisheena Keys had 14 and Sherri Brewer added 12 as the Vandals (4-1 in GCB, 9-3 overall) pulled away in the second half for their third win of the week.

The Cougars (1-4, 3-10) were paced by Jessica Struck with 13 points and Kara Woosley with eight.

Klickitat opened up a 14-5 lead after one quarter but Lyle rallied in the second to pull within 23-18 at the half.

The Vandals wore the Cougars down in the second half, however, and won both quarters to hand Lyle its third loss of the week.

Aryn Davis dominated for the Vandals last Friday, totaling 23 points, 20 rebounds and five steals in their win over the Pirates.

Sherri Brewer contributed 12 points and Melissa Huwe tallied 11 for Klickitat, which broke the game open in the third quarter with a 26-4 surge.

At Bickleton 34, Lyle 31:

Joelle Jackson and Jessica Struck combined for 25 points but the Pirates prevailed last Thursday for their first league victory.

Jacskon and Bickleton's Kirstin Slater, with 13 points each, shared game scoring honors. Struck finished with 12.

The Pirates outscored the Cougars, 13-3, in the second quarter to take a 17-9 halftime lead and led 26-22 after three quarters of a game that began on Dec. 16 but wasn't completed because of a power outage that night in the Bickleton area.

Aryn Davis had a monster game and the Vandals overpowered Trout Lake-Glenwood Jan. 10 for their fourth in a row.

Davis tallied 27 points, 25 rebounds and seven steals for Klickitat, which fashioned a 29-8 halftime lead.

Melissa Huwe chipped in 11 points and six assists, and Trisheena Keys added 10 points and eight steals.

Ashley Brasuell and Kindra VanLaar each scored 10 points to pace TLG, which lost its fourth straight.

The Cougars never got their offense untracked in losing the Jan. 10 non-league game.

Kara Woosley scored seven points and Jessica Struck collected nine rebounds for Lyle, which trailed 22-8 at the half.
