Prep basketball season tips off

Boys and girls teams from four schools see action at Klickitat jamboree

Prep basketball in Klickitat County tipped off Wednesday night with a jamboree at Klickitat High School.

Boys and girls teams from Klickitat, Lyle, Trout Lake/Glenwood and Goldendale participated in the annual tip-off event.

Columbia High's boys and girls teams will have to wait until Tuesday, Dec. 5, to get their 2006-07 seasons under way. That's when they will play non-league games at Dufur, Ore. The games were originally scheduled to be played Nov. 28, but were postponed due to winter weather conditions. Tuesday's schedule is as follows: Girls JV at 3 p.m., boys JV at 4:30, girls varsity at 6 and boys varsity at 7:30.

CHS's games against Corbett, Ore., set for Thursday, Nov. 30, also were postponed because of weather. Makeup dates have not been announced.

Still on for Friday is the first round of the Mt. Adams Shootout at Trout Lake High School, starting at 2 p.m. The tournament concludes on Saturday.

Also on Saturday, Lyle entertains non-league opponent Cascade Locks, Ore. Junior varsity games are scheduled for 2 and 3:30 p.m. They will be followed by girls varsity action at 5 and boys varsity at 6:30.
