Soroptimist to hold another candidates' night

Listen to politicians on Oct. 10

After hosting a successful evening of discussion among candidates for the primary election in August, Soroptimist International of Mt. Adams is hosting a Candidates' Night for the general election on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at the Pioneer Center in White Salmon.

The forum, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 6:30 p.m.

All candidates running for political office and appearing on the general election ballot have been invited to attend.

Each candidate will have the opportunity to address the audience followed by a time for audience members to ask questions of the candidates.

The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Soroptimist Kathleen Butcher will serve as the event's moderator, and Soroptimist will provide refreshments.

"An addition to this event is that we will be asking candidates in opposed races to submit one question to their opponent, which will be asked of the opponent by the moderator," said Butcher. "This will give the voters the opportunity to understand what the opponents identify as the major differences between them."

Soroptimist is an international volunteer service organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world.
