Vandals sweep LaSalle, improve to 4-0

&nbps;Klickitat remained unbeaten in Greater Columbia B League volleyball play with a four-set victory over visiting La Salle last Thursday.

The Vandals (4-0 in league, 8-1 overall) dropped the high-scoring first set, 27-25, but rallied for the victory by sweeping sets two through four, 25-13, 25-22, 25-14.

As a team, the Vandals served at an 85 percent clip (82 for 97, with six aces) and succeeded on 32-of-60 kill attempts (53 percent). They also tallied 13 blocks.

Klickitat's top server was Melissa Huwe, who was a perfect 16 for 16 from the line, with one ace. Right behind her was Tia Miner, who completed 19-of-21 serves, two for aces. Zoe Linder also served two aces.

At the net, Aryn Davis, Huwe and Samantha Brewer sparked the Vandals' attack.

Davis scored on 12-of-24 kill attempts and with six blocks. Huwe was 7 for 9 in kills and Brewer recorded six kills in nine chances and seven blocks.

Kali Linville contributed 14 assists to raise her season total to 65.

Klickitat's other GCB victories came in September versus Trout Lake/Glenwood (3-0), at Bickleton (3-0) and at Sunnyside Christian (3-2).

The Vandals' next GCB match is Friday at Riverside Christian, in Yakima. Klickitat took a non-league match from Riverside on Sept. 19.

The Cougars broke into the win column last Thursday with a sweep of the Pirates. They won by scores of 25-16, 25-13, 25-15.

Standout performances came from Jessica Struck (four kills, eight service aces), Shelly Stanovich (six kills, four aces), Kiera Murphy (five kills, three blocks, four aces) and Kara Woosley (five aces, two kills).
